Since 2008 the Aller-Retour - Ida y Vuelta festival in Lormont promotes intercultural exchange between France and Spain through music, dance and meetings.
On 21 June Lormont celebrates the Fête de la Musique with free concerts in parks and public squares on the right bank of the Garonne.
Situated on the steep slopes of the right bank of the Garonne River, Lormont reveals a hilly landscape that contrasts sharply with the flat terrain of Bordeaux. The dramatic skyline is dominated by the 1967-built Pont d'Aquitaine suspension bridge, its massive pillars rising right next to the original village core. The historic center, "Vieux Lormont," retains the character of an old fishing village, featuring narrow cobbled streets, medieval washhouses (lavoirs), and classic stone dwellings. A standout natural attraction is the Parc de l'Ermitage Sainte-Catherine; this former limestone quarry has been reclaimed as a densely vegetated park containing a deep green lake and offering sweeping panoramic views of the river. The Romanesque Church of Saint-Martin reflects the town's historical importance along pilgrimage routes. Once famous for shipbuilding, Lormont is now served by modern river shuttles (Batcub) that connect directly to downtown Bordeaux, providing visitors with a scenic waterfront approach.
