Vélizy-Villacoublay is a key strategic and economic hub located in the Yvelines department, southwest of Paris. The town is most famous for the Villacoublay Air Base (Base Aérienne 107), which has been a center of French aviation history since the early 20th century and currently serves as the official transport hub for the President of France and government officials. Beyond its military significance, the city is an industrial giant. It hosts Inovel Parc, a massive business district that is home to global leaders in technology and defense, such as Dassault Systèmes and Thales, as well as major automotive research facilities. Retail also plays a huge role, with the Westfield Vélizy 2 shopping mall being one of the largest in Europe. Despite its high density of offices and industries, Vélizy-Villacoublay borders the Meudon Forest, providing residents with vast green spaces. The recent addition of the T6 tramway line has further integrated the city into the Greater Paris transit network. It is a city that exemplifies France's 20th-century modernization, transitioning from a small hamlet into a high-tech powerhouse that drives the regional economy.
