Vanves is a compact and densely populated city in the Hauts-de-Seine department, bordering the 15th arrondissement of Paris. With an area of only 1.56 square kilometers, it is one of the smallest communes in France, yet it possesses a rich and diverse history. During the Roman period, it was a major center for pottery, and by the 18th century, it became a fashionable retreat for the French nobility. The most prominent architectural landmark is the Lycée Michelet, a prestigious school located in a former princely palace set within a 17-hectare park. Vanves is also home to the Saint-Rémy church, a fine example of 15th-century Gothic architecture. The city is best known to tourists and collectors for the Vanves Flea Market (Marché aux Puces de Vanves), which takes place every weekend and is considered one of the most authentic antique markets in the Paris region. Modern Vanves is a dynamic urban center, serving as a hub for media and publishing companies. It is exceptionally well-connected to the capital by the Paris Métro Line 13 and the Transilien railway, making it a highly desirable residential area for those working in central Paris.
