Malakoff is a dynamic and densely populated commune located just south of Paris in the Hauts-de-Seine department. The city's name is uniquely tied to history, named after the Malakoff tower in Sevastopol, which was captured during the Crimean War in 1855. Originally a part of Vanves, Malakoff became an independent municipality in 1883. It has a rich industrial and working-class history, which is still evident in its diverse architectural landscape, ranging from pleasant 'villas' (private residential alleys) to modern apartment complexes. The city is known for its strong sense of community and artistic flair, housing many creative studios and cultural spaces. Economically, Malakoff hosts several corporate headquarters and administrative offices, benefiting from its immediate proximity to the 14th arrondissement of Paris. It is exceptionally well-connected to the French capital via Metro Line 13 and the Transilien train network. Despite its high urban density, the city manages several public parks and green corridors, providing essential recreational spaces for its residents. Malakoff represents the typical 'petite couronne' suburb, blending historical identity with modern urban functionality.
