Located in the Val-d'Oise department on the edge of the Cergy-Pontoise agglomeration, Osny is a delightful town that has deep historical roots and an exceptionally green environment. The absolute centerpiece of the town is the magnificent Château de Grouchy, an elegant 18th-century manor that currently houses the town hall as well as a fascinating Firefighter Museum, the Musée Départemental des Sapeurs-Pompiers. The chateau is set within the expansive Parc de Grouchy, a striking landscaped park featuring a pretty lake, ancient trees, and sweeping lawns that invite visitors for long, relaxing strolls. Osny also holds a special place in art history: the renowned Impressionist painter Camille Pissarro was deeply inspired by the town tranquil landscapes and the gentle flow of the Viosne River, capturing the area beauty in several of his famous paintings. Wandering through the old town, you can discover quaint narrow streets, an old riverside mill, and the pleasant 12th-century Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens church. Osny wonderfully blends its rich cultural heritage, Impressionist art history, and the serene relaxation of beautifully maintained parklands.
