Montgeron, located in the Essonne department, holds a deeply significant title in the history of international sports: on July 1, 1903, the starting gun for the very first Tour de France was fired right in front of the local "Le Réveil Matin" café. To this day, the town's residents remain immensely proud of this historic milestone, commemorated by a dedicated plaque and regular cycling festivals. The city is also characterized by the Pelouse, an impressive, kilometer-long avenue lined with majestic, towering trees that originally served as the grand approach to a now-vanished royal château.
