Lemvig is located in western Jutland on the southern shores of the Limfjord and is celebrated for its unusually hilly terrain, often called the 'mountain town by the fjord.' First mentioned in 1234, the town has retained its charm as a historic market center. A prominent landmark is the Lemvig Church, easily recognizable by its unique onion-shaped spire that dominates the town's skyline. Lemvig is internationally known for the 'Planetary Path' (Planetstien), a 1:1 billion scale model of the solar system stretching along the scenic coastline. The town also houses the Museum of Religious Art, which features significant contemporary works. Economically, the region is deeply tied to fishing and, more recently, wind energy, with Lemvig serving as a hub for climate research and coastal protection. The surrounding steep hills and deep valleys, formed during the last ice age, offer some of the most spectacular vistas in Denmark over the Limfjord. Today, Lemvig seamlessly integrates maritime traditions with scientific innovation and a spirited artistic community.
