The Esbjerg Water Tower is a prominent landmark of the city and a testament to the rapid industrial development at the end of the 19th century. The structure was built between 1896 and 1897 and designed by architect Christian Hjerrild Clausen. Its design was significantly influenced by the Nassauer Haus in Nuremberg, giving the tower its characteristic late medieval appearance. Situated on a Bronze Age burial mound, it towers over the city and once had a capacity of 600 cubic meters of water. Although it has not been used as part of the municipal water supply since the 1970s, it remains an important cultural monument. Visitors can climb the 131 steps to the viewing platform, which features a panoramic view over the port of Esbjerg and the island of Fanø. The tower now hosts temporary exhibitions and has been a listed building since 1983.
