Blåvand marks the westernmost point of Denmark at Cape Blåvandshuk. Its landmark is the 39-meter-high white lighthouse from 1900, offering panoramic views over Horns Rev, one of the world's largest offshore wind farms. The region is characterized by sandy beaches up to 400 meters wide, which are almost car-free, providing convenient conditions for families. Amber is often found here, especially after a storm from the southwest. Culturally, the Tirpitz Museum stands out, integrated into an old WWII bunker. Designed by the architectural firm BIG, the building is hidden beneath the dunes and features exhibitions on amber collections and the Atlantic Wall. The surroundings consist of heathlands and plantations, home to Denmark's largest population of red deer. On the main street, visitors will find numerous specialty shops, glassworks, and restaurants serving fresh North Sea fish. Access is typically via the E20 motorway to Esbjerg and then further via local roads. The best time to visit is from June to September for beach holidays, but autumn also attracts nature lovers for the deer rut. Culinarially, one should try 'Vesterhavsost', a local cheese matured in the salty sea air.
