Rabil is the second-largest settlement on Boa Vista island, located just a few kilometers south of the capital, Sal Rei. As a former capital of the island, it possesses a rich history and is home to the Igreja de São Roque, one of the oldest churches on the island. Rabil is renowned far and wide for its traditional pottery. The local Olaria (pottery workshop) utilizes clay from the nearby Ribeira do Rabil valley to craft artistic ceramic goods, which are popular souvenirs for visitors. The village is situated on the edge of a fertile valley that provides a stark contrast to the otherwise desert-like terrain of Boa Vista. The island's international airport is located very close to Rabil, making it a key transport node.
