Fundo das Figueiras is a photogenic village in the northeast of Boa Vista island, part of the Norte region. It is widely considered one of the most beautiful villages on the island, famous for its meticulously maintained, brightly colored houses and flower-lined streets. The village center is anchored by the white church of São João Baptista, which serves as a major cultural landmark. Inhabitants traditionally earn their living through agriculture and livestock farming, growing maize, beans, and fruits in the surrounding fertile valleys. Fundo das Figueiras has preserved its authentic identity and is known for its warm hospitality. A major annual highlight is the Feast of Saint John on June 24th, celebrated with traditional music, dancing, and horse racing. The surrounding area features vast dune landscapes and is close to the pristine Praia de Ervatão, one of the world's most important nesting sites for loggerhead sea turtles.
