Holambra stands out as a unique cultural enclave in Brazil, founded in 1948 by Dutch Catholic immigrants. The city is officially recognized as the national capital of flowers, responsible for the largest share of ornamental plant production in Latin America. Visitors come to see the bustling flower fields and the authentic Moinho Povos Unidos, a 31-meter-tall traditional Dutch windmill. The city center is characterized by Dutch-style facades, bicycle paths, and bakeries selling stroopwafels and poffertjes. Every September, Holambra hosts Expoflora, the largest flower exhibition in the Americas, which includes parades, traditional dances, and a massive petal drop. Situated 130 kilometers from São Paulo, the drive takes about two hours via the Bandeirantes highway. While September is the peak month due to Expoflora and the start of spring, visiting during the winter months (June to August) gives a quieter experience to explore the farms and museums.
