Capitolio
Capitolio has gained immense popularity as a top destination for nature lovers, often referred to as the "Sea of Minas". The region is dominated by the massive Furnas reservoir, offering a spectacular contrast of emerald green waters and dramatic rock formations. Visitors flock here to take boat and catamaran tours through the deep canyons, stopping at incredible waterfalls like the Lagoa Azul and Cascata Eco Parque. The surrounding hills provide scenic viewpoints, such as the Mirante dos Canyons, great for photography and admiring the landscape. Freshwater fish dishes, particularly tilapia, dominate the local culinary scene. The warmer months from September to March are great for swimming, though rain can be frequent. It is easily reachable by road from major cities in the southeast.
