Canoa Quebrada
Once a quiet fishing village, Canoa Quebrada was discovered by hippies in the 1970s and has since transformed into a spirited beach destination. The scenery is spectacular: tall, bright red and orange cliffs stand in stark contrast to the deep blue ocean and white sandy beaches. The town's iconic symbol, a crescent moon and star carved into the rock face, is a popular photo spot. During the day, adventurous buggy rides through the expansive dunes draw travelers to discover small oases and hidden lagoons. Kitesurfing and paragliding from the cliff tops are also highly popular activities. The main street, affectionately dubbed "Broadway", is the center of the action, lined with small boutiques, fresh seafood restaurants, and lively bars. The region features a warm, sunny climate year-round, though the months between July and January are considered the best time to visit. Located about a two-hour drive from Fortaleza, Canoa Quebrada is great for a relaxing weekend getaway or an extended beach holiday that blends impressive nature with a dynamic nightlife.
