National Flag Memorial (Argentina)

Weather…

The National Flag Memorial in Rosario is an imposing architectural work dedicated to the Argentine flag. It was built on the site where General Manuel Belgrano first raised the blue and white flag on the banks of the Paraná River on February 27, 1812. The monument was designed by architects Angel Guido and Alejandro Bustillo and was inaugurated on June 20, 1957, after many years of construction. The complex includes a 70-meter-high tower housing a crypt for Manuel Belgrano, as well as the Civic Courtyard and the Gallery of Flags. The entire structure is clad in travertine from San Juan province and symbolizes a ship sailing toward the future. Every year on June 20, Flag Day, the monument serves as the center of national celebrations, attracting tens of thousands of citizens to pay tribute to the nation's founder.
