Al Saleh Mosque (Yemen)

Weather…

The Al Saleh Mosque in Sana'a is the largest and most modern religious structure in Yemen. Inaugurated in 2008, it was named after the then-president Ali Abdullah Saleh. The architecture blends traditional Yemeni elements with modern influences, distinguished by its six towering minarets that reach heights of up to 160 meters. This monumental building can accommodate up to 45,000 worshippers, making it one of the largest mosques in the world. The facade is clad in a combination of Yemeni limestone and polished granite, while the interior features magnificent wood carvings, crystal chandeliers, and hand-woven carpets. In addition to the prayer hall, the complex houses a library, a college for Quranic studies, and extensive gardens. The mosque serves not only as a religious center but also as a symbol of national unity and the country's modernization at the dawn of the 21st century. Despite political shifts, it remains a central landmark in the Sana'a skyline.
