The Alamo (United States)

Weather…

The Alamo is a historic Spanish mission and fortress compound situated in downtown San Antonio, Texas, internationally famous for the pivotal 1836 Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. Founded in the 18th century to educate Native Americans, it was later occupied by a small garrison of Texian defenders, including legendary frontiersmen Davy Crockett and James Bowie. For 13 grueling days, the vastly outnumbered defenders held out against thousands of Mexican troops commanded by President General Antonio López de Santa Anna. Ultimately, the fort was overrun on March 6, 1836, and nearly all defenders were killed. The fierce rallying cry 'Remember the Alamo!' subsequently inspired Texian forces to secure ultimate victory at San Jacinto. History K7 — the Texas Revolution and American expansion.
