Windsor is a historic town in Berkshire, England, inextricably linked to the British monarchy. The heart of the town is Windsor Castle, founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, which has served as a residence for over 40 monarchs since then. The town is picturesquely situated on the banks of the River Thames and is connected by Windsor Bridge to the neighboring town of Eton, famous for its prestigious college. Architecturally, Windsor features a fascinating blend of medieval lanes, elegant Georgian houses, and the magnificent Windsor Great Park, which covers 2000 hectares. Another prominent structure is the Windsor Guildhall, partially designed by Sir Christopher Wren. In addition to its royal significance, Windsor is a major tourist hub, attracting millions of visitors annually with attractions such as the Legoland Windsor Resort. St. George's Chapel, located within the castle walls, is a masterpiece of Perpendicular Gothic architecture and serves as the burial place for many kings. Despite the heavy tourism, Windsor maintains its small-town charm and gives a high quality of life with exclusive shopping and top-tier dining. Its strategic location near London also makes it a popular day-trip destination and a highly desirable place to live.
