Paje is globally renowned as one of the best spots for kitesurfing, thanks to its consistent winds and the vast, shallow lagoon with a sandy bottom. At low tide, the water recedes far out, revealing the seaweed farms where local women tend to their crops, a fascinating cultural sight. The atmosphere in Paje is youthful and carefree, featuring many hostels, boutique hotels, and cozy beachfront cafes. Beyond kitesurfing, Paje provides great opportunities for cycling along the beach at low tide or taking trips to the nearby Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park to see the rare Red Colobus monkeys. The best winds for kitesurfers blow from June to September (Kuzi) and from December to February (Kaskazi).
