Labrador Nature Reserve (Singapore)

Weather…

Labrador Nature Reserve is situated on the southern tip of Singapore's main island and stands as a unique site where military history and coastal ecology converge. It contains the only rocky sea cliffs on the mainland, providing a rare habitat for specialized coastal vegetation and a panoramic view of the Singapore Strait. Historically known as Fort Pasir Panjang, the area was a vital link in Singapore's coastal defense during World War II, featuring heavy artillery batteries and extensive underground tunnels. Since its official gazetting as a nature reserve in 2002, it has become a sanctuary for over 70 species of birds and a diverse array of butterflies within its secondary forest. The reserve also protects a fragile shoreline consisting of seagrass meadows and small coral communities that are accessible during low tide. Today, the park is integrated into the Southern Ridges, offering educational trails that highlight both its biological diversity and its significance as a former British military bastion.
