Perched on the rugged southernmost tip of St. Lucia, the Moule-a-Chique Lighthouse is a historic beacon completed in 1912. It was constructed atop the foundations of a 19th-century military signal station, maintaining its strategic role as a vital lookout for approaching maritime traffic. Standing at an elevation of 223 meters above sea level, it holds the distinction of being one of the highest operating lighthouses in the world. The 15-meter tower is built of solid masonry, specifically designed to withstand the high winds and salt spray of the cape. Its powerful light serves as a primary navigational fix for international vessels arriving from the South American coast toward the Caribbean. Visitors are drawn to the site for its unparalleled panoramic views; on clear days, the vista extends northward to the iconic Piton peaks and southward across the sea to the neighboring island of St. Vincent.
