Mizil is a town in Prahova County, strategically located halfway between the major economic hubs of Ploiești and Buzău. The settlement's history dates back to the 16th century, first documented under the name Etepilia, but it evolved into a significant market town only in the 18th century. A decisive factor in its growth was the construction of the railway line in 1870, which connected Mizil to the country's main commercial networks. In Romanian literature, the town is famously linked to the playwright I.L. Caragiale, who humorously depicted local social life in his works. Economically, the town long relied on agriculture and light industry, with metal processing and textiles becoming dominant during the post-WWII period. Today, Mizil serves as a regional urban center for neighboring rural communities, benefiting from its position along the DN1B national road. Despite undergoing industrial restructuring, the town retains a quiet small-town charm and several heritage buildings from the turn of the 20th century.
