Vladimirescu is a rapidly growing suburban commune in Arad County, situated directly on the eastern edge of Arad city. Historically known as Glogovăț (German: Glogowatz), it was founded as a planned settlement for Banat Swabians during the 18th-century Habsburg colonization. This heritage is still visible in the town's grid-like street layout and the distinct architecture of its older residential buildings. Following the Second World War, the locality was renamed after Tudor Vladimirescu, a key figure in Romanian national history. Over the last two decades, Vladimirescu has transformed from a primarily agricultural village into a modern residential and industrial hub. Its position along the E68 international road has attracted significant foreign investment, making it one of the most economically dynamic municipalities in Western Romania. The town serves as a vital bridge between the urban center of Arad and the rural hinterland, offering a blend of modern amenities, industrial parks, and expanding residential neighborhoods that cater to the regional workforce.
