Pearl GTL Plant (Qatar)

Weather…

The Pearl GTL (Gas-to-Liquids) plant in Ras Laffan Industrial City is the world's largest GTL plant, a joint venture between Shell and QatarEnergy. Commissioned in 2011, the facility is an engineering masterpiece, converting natural gas from the North Field into a range of high-quality liquid products. These include GTL kerosene, gasoil, naphtha, and paraffin, which burn more cleanly than traditional petroleum-based fuels. The plant has a production capacity of 140,000 barrels per day of liquid products, plus 120,000 barrels of oil equivalent of natural gas liquids and ethane. Pearl GTL is a prime example of Qatar's strategy to maximize the value of its gas reserves by creating advanced and cleaner energy products. The project represented one of the largest single investments in the history of the energy industry and cements Qatar's position as a global energy leader.
