The Bangui Windmills, majestically arranged along the coast of Ilocos Norte, represent the first wind power project of its kind in Southeast Asia. The 20 giant wind turbines are spread in a graceful arc along the nine-kilometer sandy shore of Bangui Bay. Each turbine stands over 70 meters high, harnessing the powerful winds blowing in from the West Philippine Sea. The project supplies clean energy to nearly half of Ilocos Norte province and has established the region as a pioneer of renewable energy in the Philippines. Beyond their ecological significance, the windmills have become one of the country's most iconic tourist attractions, blending a futuristic aesthetic with the raw beauty of the coastline.

The entire coastal wind farm is freely open to the public, allowing all visitors to walk right along the sandy shoreline and stand directly at the very base of the massive wind turbines.
Typical hours
The vast coastline is technically accessible twenty-four hours a day, though daytime visits are highly recommended for safety and to fully visually appreciate the towering scale of the structures.

Use a wide-angle lens to fully capture the impressively long row of windmills curving along the bay, taking advantage of the usually dramatic weather rolling in off the turbulent ocean waters.
Time needed
A typical quick stop to walk along the black sand beach, take memorable photographs, and feel the immense physical power of the steady sea breeze generally takes roughly thirty to sixty minutes.
