Kantabogon is a small village in the municipality of Aloguinsan on the west coast of Cebu. The place has gained significance in recent years as it is considered the gateway to one of the island's most beautiful natural coves. The landscape is characterized by rugged limestone cliffs and dense tropical vegetation that reaches down to the azure sea. The absolute highlight is Hermit's Cove (also known as Hermits Cove, Aloguinsan). This secluded cove features a powdery white sand beach reachable only via a steep staircase down the cliffs. The water is exceptionally clear and is excellent for swimming and observing fish right by the shore. The community places great emphasis on ecotourism and sustainable management of the beach. Nearby, visitors can also explore the Bojo River, known for its award-winning river cruises. The combination of river scenery and the beach of Kantabogon makes the trip a complete nature experience. Culturally and culinarily, guests are served local delicacies such as 'Puso' (hanging rice) and freshly prepared grilled food. The journey from Cebu City takes about two to three hours via the mountains.
