The trail generally starts near the town of Rose Hill or Stanley, specifically at the base of the mountain near Camp Levieux. Public transport reaches the nearby urban areas, but reaching the exact trailhead is easier by taxi or car.
Best season
The drier and cooler months from May to November are handy for hiking, offering clearer views of the central plains and less humidity. Heavy rains in the summer months make the steep rocky sections dangerously slippery.
