Mulee'aage is the official residence of the President of the Maldives, located in the historic center of Malé. The palace was commissioned by Sultan Muhammad Shamsuddeen III between 1906 and 1919 as a residence for his son and heir, Prince Hassan Izzuddin. Its architecture is a fine example of colonial-style design, characterized by white walls, intricate carvings, and a striking red roof. Following the abolition of the sultanate in 1953, the building transitioned through various government roles before becoming a presidential residence. Mulee'aage is situated directly across from the historic Hukuru Miskiy (Friday Mosque), marking the core of the capital's political and religious life. Surrounded by well-manicured gardens and secured by an ornate gate, the palace remains a symbol of the nation's transition from a monarchy to a modern republic.
