Uzgen Minaret (Kyrgyzstan)

Weather…

The Uzgen Minaret is a remarkable 11th-century architectural monument located in the historic city of Uzgen in southern Kyrgyzstan. Built of fired bricks, the tower was originally much taller before likely being damaged by an earthquake, and today stands at a height of approximately 27.5 meters. The facade of the minaret is decorated with intricate brickwork patterns forming geometric motifs and Kufic calligraphy. In the immediate vicinity of the minaret lies a complex of three Karakhanid-era mausoleums, which are also known for their masterful brickwork and richly decorated portals. The entire site is an important testament to the Islamic architectural heritage in Central Asia and the Karakhanid dynasty.
