Water temperature…
Mattinata is located on the southern coast of the Gargano peninsula, set within a valley of centuries-old olive trees. The town center sits slightly inland on a hill, overlooking the Adriatic Sea. The coastline here is defined by high white limestone cliffs, sea caves, and small pebble coves. The most prominent natural landmark is the "Baia dei Mergoli o delle Zagare", featuring two large sea stacks rising directly from the water. Visitors can also explore "Spiaggia dei Gabbiani" and the secluded "Cala della Pergola" set between the rocky walls. The surrounding Gargano National Park provides hiking trails leading to Mount Saraceno, where an ancient Daunian necropolis is located. Along the shore, smaller inlets like "Baia del Leone", "Cala dei Morti", and "Cala del Fico" are often accessible only by boat or steep footpaths.
