Bastione Maiano

Bastione Maiano is a massive bastion and a significant part of the historic city walls of Grosseto in Tuscany. It was built in the 16th century under the rule of the powerful Medici family when the city's fortifications were modernized and expanded. The star-shaped bastion was designed to protect the southeastern flank of the city from enemy attacks and stands as an excellent example of Renaissance military architecture.

Today, the bastion no longer serves military purposes but is an important cultural and historical monument for the city. Visitors can admire the impressive dimensions of the brick walls and walk along the old fortress ramparts.
