Raja Ampat
Raja Ampat, meaning 'The Four Kings', is the ultimate frontier for divers and nature enthusiasts. Located at the heart of the Coral Triangle, it gives an underwater world of unparalleled richness. The bizarre limestone rock formations rising from the turquoise sea create a landscape of otherworldly beauty. Visitors are drawn to world-class dive sites like Cape Kri and Blue Magic, as well as trekking to iconic viewpoints like Wayag and Piaynemo. The dense rainforests are home to rare species such as the Wilson's Bird of Paradise. Local Papuan village culture has authentic encounters far from the crowds of mass tourism. The cuisine is centered around fresh seafood and sago. Access is typically via Sorong airport followed by boat transfers to remote resorts or homestays. The best time to visit is from October to April, when the seas are calmest and underwater visibility is at its peak.
