Vivekananda Rock Memorial (India)

Weather…

The Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a prominent monument located in Kanyakumari, at the southernmost tip of mainland India. It was built in 1970 to honor Swami Vivekananda, who meditated on this offshore rock for three days in December 1892 before embarking on his journey to the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago. The memorial is situated on one of two small islands about 500 meters from the mainland, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean converge. The architecture incorporates various Indian building styles and consists of two primary structures: the Vivekananda Mandapam and the Shripada Mandapam. The latter is dedicated to a sacred footprint on the rock, believed to be that of Goddess Parvati. Today, it serves as a center for spiritual reflection and attracts millions of tourists and pilgrims annually.
