Parliament Building (Hungary)

Weather…

The Hungarian Parliament Building, known as Országház, is one of Budapest's most iconic landmarks, situated on the Pest bank of the Danube River. Designed by architect Imre Steindl in the Neo-Gothic style, its construction took place between 1885 and 1904 to celebrate the millennium of the Hungarian state. Measuring 268 meters in length and reaching a height of 96 meters at its dome, it remains the largest building in Hungary and one of the largest parliaments globally. The interior is lavishly decorated, featuring approximately 40 kilograms of 24-karat gold used in its intricate ornamental details. The central Dome Hall houses the Holy Crown of Hungary along with the royal scepter and orb, protected by the Crown Guard. With 691 rooms and 10 internal courtyards, the building’s layout is perfectly symmetrical to accommodate a bicameral legislature, though only one wing is now used for politics. Its exterior is adorned with 88 statues of Hungarian rulers and military leaders, making it a masterpiece of historicist architecture. The building remains a focal point of Hungarian political life and national identity.
