Statue of Justice (Hong Kong SAR China)

Weather…

The Statue of Justice, depicting the Greek goddess Themis, is a powerful architectural icon perched atop the pediment of the Old Supreme Court building in Hong Kong's Central District. Carved from white marble by British sculptor Frederick William Pomeroy and installed in 1912, the statue features the traditional symbols of justice: scales for weighing evidence, a sword representing power, and a blindfold symbolizing impartiality. The building itself is one of the few remaining examples of colonial Neo-Classical architecture in the area and currently houses the Legislative Council. For Hong Kong's citizens, the statue is far more than a decorative element; it is a profound symbol of the rule of law and judicial independence. Standing amidst the glass towers of the financial district, it serves as a historic reminder of the city's legal foundations and its enduring commitment to justice.
