Frequently starting from the winding coastal road, hikers can easily access the well-marked trailhead via regular public bus services running outward from the city center.
Best season
Clear autumn and winter days provide the absolute best visibility for the spectacular coastal views, while the cooling sea breeze makes the open ridge walk incredibly pleasant.

This famous undulating mountain ridge features well-trodden dirt paths and stone steps, offering a moderate workout without being overly technical or excessively steep.
What to bring
Basic hiking shoes, a sun hat, and plenty of water are absolutely essential, as the prominent ridge line gives very little natural shade against the bright coastal sun.

There is virtually no reliable parking at the typical starting points, so utilizing the frequent local bus services heading towards the southern beaches is the standard approach.
Safety
Despite being a well-maintained trail, visitors should avoid the route during thunderstorms due to the exposed nature of the ridge and watch their footing on rocky sections.

Completing the classic ridge walk down to the coastal end typically requires around three to four hours, often culminating with a deeply relaxing stop near Shek O Beach.
