Kentarchos, often referred to by locals as Kallitsos, is a highly pretty and deeply traditional village on the Greek island of Serifos in the Cyclades. Located into a rugged, rocky mountain landscape, the settlement features spectacular panoramic views of the deep blue Aegean Sea. The bright whitewashed houses with blue shutters and the narrow, winding cobblestone streets reflect the purest Cycladic architecture, creating an atmosphere of ultimate peace. Below the hilltop village, completely untouched and secluded stretches of coastline lie hidden. Beaches such as Mesiano, Vorino, and the wonderful Platis Gialos are true hidden gems. These shores, featuring a mix of pebbles and fine sand, are intentionally left unorganized, which lends them a wonderfully wild and natural beauty. Visitors can swim in the crystal-clear, refreshing waters while completely immersing themselves in the silence of nature. Culinary-wise, the area delights with honest, simple island food culture, including local capers, sun-dried tomatoes, and fresh goat cheese. Quaint little kafeneios invite guests to linger over a Greek coffee or a glass of ouzo. Getting there requires taking a ferry to the main port of Serifos, followed by a scenic drive along winding but breathtakingly beautiful mountain roads.
