Aspropyrgos Refinery (Greece)

Weather…

The Aspropyrgos Refinery is one of the most complex and high-performing industrial facilities in Greece, belonging to the Hellenic Petroleum (HELLP) group. Located west of Athens, the plant was commissioned in 1958 and has since evolved into a technologically advanced complex. The refinery processes various types of crude oil into a wide range of products, including unleaded gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). With an installed capacity of approximately 148,000 barrels per day, it plays a central role in securing the energy supply for the Greek market and exports a significant portion of its production abroad. The facility features extensive storage capacities and is connected via pipelines directly to the port of Pachi and Athens International Airport. In recent years, massive investments have been made in environmental protection measures and modernizations to increase efficiency and lower emission levels. The refinery is also a major employer in the Thriasio Pedio region.
