Limbach-Oberfrohna is located in the Free State of Saxony, on the northern edge of the Ore Mountain Basin. The city has an impressive industrial past, particularly as a center of the Saxon textile industry. Pioneering inventions such as the warp knitting machine were made here, making Limbach world-famous for its hosiery and gloves. After 1990, the economic structure successfully shifted toward automotive suppliers and mechanical engineering. A tourist highlight is the America Animal Park, which owes its name to the district called Amerika and features a variety of animals from the American continent. Cultural life is shaped by Wolkenburg Castle and the Esche Museum, which keeps the history of textile technology alive. The city benefits from its direct proximity to Chemnitz and features a good mix of urban infrastructure and green surroundings.
