Water temperature…
Perched high above the scenic valley of the Freiberger Mulde river, the over 1000-year-old town of Leisnig is a true historical gem in the heart of Central Saxony. Even from afar, the town's skyline is utterly dominated by the mighty Mildenstein Castle (Burg Mildenstein), one of the oldest and most immaculately preserved fortresses in all of Saxony. Strolling through the castle's massive, defensive walls transports visitors instantly back to the Middle Ages, while the observation points provide wide-open, sweeping views of the meandering river and the rolling green hills below. The welcoming historic Old Town of Leisnig delights guests with its carefully restored half-timbered houses, the traditional market square, and the impressive St. Matthew's Church. However, Leisnig also has a highly unique, delightfully quirky attraction: it is home to the world's largest boot (Riesenstiefel). Standing nearly five meters tall, this masterful piece of footwear was crafted by local master shoemakers to celebrate the town’s 950th anniversary and is proudly displayed in the Burglehnhaus. The surrounding region is affectionately known as the "Fruit Land" (Obstland) due to its vast, sprawling orchards. These orchards provide a spectacular natural floral display during the spring blossom. The scenic Muldental cycle path runs right through this idyllic landscape, drawing active travelers and nature lovers alike.
