Highlights of 2026

1

Located on the fertile Fildern plateau right on the border of Stuttgart, this young city was created in 1975 from the merger of several historic villages. It gained notable attention for the Scharnhauser Park, a former US military base that was transformed into an internationally awarded modern residential and landscape park for the 2002 regional garden show. The linear landscape staircase in the park provides sweeping views all the way to the Swabian Alb. An architectural highlight is the Stadthaus designed by Jürgen Mayer H., a multi-award-winning building featuring slanted forms and an innovative roof structure. In the Nellingen district, the Gothic St. Blaise Church preserves original frescoes dating back to the 13th century. Along the Körsch river valley, walkers and cyclists can experience the area's agricultural roots, where farmers still grow the traditional Filderkraut, a pointed cabbage that is absolutely essential for classic regional dishes.
