- Be prepared for steep climbs; the town is dramatically split between the lower valley floor and the high castle rock.
- Park at the designated visitor parking areas in the lower town and explore the steep, narrow streets on foot.

Haigerloch, picturesquely situated in a tight loop of the Eyach Valley, is a town of exceptional historical and scientific significance. Its architecture is defined by the high-perched castle and castle church of the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen family, which tower over the winding lower town. Haigerloch gained worldwide fame towards the end of World War II as the location of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Physics; the last German experimental nuclear reactor was built in the rock cellar beneath the castle church. Today, the Atomkeller Museum documents this episode of scientific history. Besides this technological-historical aspect, Haigerloch is known for its Baroque art and Jewish history, which remains visible in the former Jewish quarter with its synagogue and cemetery. The town is also a center for art and culture in the Zollernalb district and attracts visitors every spring for the lilac bloom, earning it the nickname 'Lilac City.' Economically, Haigerloch is characterized by a healthy mix of trades, specialized industry, and services.
