Bietigheim-Bissingen is a major district town in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, situated approximately 20 kilometers north of Stuttgart. Formed in 1975 through a merger, it elegantly bridges its medieval heritage with a forward-looking industrial profile. The town's silhouette is characterized by the massive Enz Valley Viaduct, a 19th-century railway bridge with 21 arches that spans the Enz river. Its historic core is a treasure trove of architecture, featuring the ornate Town Hall from 1507 and several well-preserved medieval gates and towers. Art plays a significant role in the town's identity, highlighted by the 'Skulpturenweg' (Sculpture Path) and the high-profile exhibitions at the Municipal Gallery. The local economy is robust, driven by automotive giants and mechanical engineering firms, while the terraced vineyards on the surrounding slopes produce renowned regional wines. Every September, the town hosts the Bietigheim Horse Market, a massive folk festival that attracts visitors from across southern Germany, celebrating both agricultural traditions and local hospitality.
