Besigheim is located in the Ludwigsburg district of Baden-Württemberg and is spectacularly perched on a steep rocky ridge above the confluence of the Neckar and Enz rivers. The town is considered one of the best-preserved medieval locations in southern Germany. The cityscape is dominated by two towers of the former Upper and Lower Castles, visible from afar, as well as the magnificent half-timbered Town Hall. Besigheim is the heart of Württemberg viticulture, with the surrounding extreme steep slopes, painstakingly arranged into terraces, producing top-quality wines. The historic old town with its cobblestone alleys, old city gates, and fountains looks like a film set and attracts numerous tourists annually. In addition to viticulture, metalworking companies and modern service providers have settled in the town, making Besigheim a wealthy and animated regional center.
