💡 Tips
- To avoid the weekend crowds coming up from the coast, ski early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
- The road to the resort can be snowy; snow chains are often mandatory. Check the conditions before you leave.
- The resort is a 1970s concrete complex. Don't expect a traditional village atmosphere, but enjoy the ski-in/ski-out convenience.
- For a wide-open view of the Southern Alps and, on clear days, all the way to the Mediterranean Sea, take the lift to the Cime de Sistron.
- Groceries are expensive in the resort. Do your shopping in a supermarket in the valley (e.g., in Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée) to save money.
🍽 Food
A classic Alpine dish with potatoes, Reblochon cheese, bacon, and onions. Look for a cosy mountain restaurant for the most authentic experience.
A legacy of the nearby French Riviera. This thin, crispy pancake made from chickpea flour is a great savoury snack. Look for food stalls that make it fresh.
A traditional herbal liqueur from the Alps. Order one as a digestif after a hearty meal to feel like a local.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
Try local cheeses like 'Tomme de montagne'. You can find them in the small supermarkets or delicatessens in the resort's centre.
At 2000 metres, the sun is extremely strong, even on cloudy days. The pharmacy in the resort sells high-quality sun protection if you've forgotten yours.
The resort borders the park. Rent some snowshoes and follow the marked trails for a quiet escape into untouched nature.
Be the first on the lift. The silence, empty pistes, and freshly groomed snow offer a magical and peaceful experience before the crowds arrive.
Take a peaceful walk around the frozen lake. The path is relatively flat and provides a nice break from the hustle of the slopes.
