Located in the heart of the Ille-et-Vilaine department in Brittany, Janzé is a characterful and lively country town that has earned nationwide fame for a very specific culinary treasure: the renowned "Poulet de Janzé." This highly prized free-range poultry is a staple in French gastronomy and perfectly reflects the region's rich agricultural heritage. Situated just a short drive from the regional capital of Rennes, the town provides a wonderful escape for those seeking the authentic and peaceful side of rural France. Strolling through the town center, visitors can admire the traditional stone houses and the imposing 19th-century Saint-Martin church, whose striking tower dominates the local skyline. Every Wednesday morning, the central square truly comes to life during the traditional weekly market, where local producers offer their fresh goods. It is the great opportunity to sample artisanal Breton cider, crusty bread, regional cheeses, and of course, the famous local poultry. The gently rolling surrounding landscape, characterized by green meadows and small woodlands, is well-suited for cycling or hiking far away from the usual tourist crowds. Janzé features a genuine slice of everyday Breton life and heartfelt hospitality.
