Perched in the hilly and rugged Mené region, it serves as the administrative and economic focal point for the surrounding rural area. Since 2016, it has been the lead town of the newly formed commune of Le Mené. The town's history is deeply intertwined with its role as a market hub, where farmers from across the plateau gathered for centuries. Today, it is well-known for hosting significant food processing facilities, particularly in the meat industry, which is a major employer for the region. The architecture of Collinée is characterized by traditional Breton stone houses, giving the town a solid and enduring feel. Surrounded by lush pastures and dense woodlands, the town features a gateway to outdoor activities like hiking and fishing.
