Lamballe-Armor is a significant town in northern Brittany, formed by the merger of several communes. It is home to a long history as the capital of the Duchy of Penthièvre, reflected in its magnificent manor houses and the imposing Notre-Dame collegiate church perched on the hill. An absolute highlight is the Haras National, a national stud farm that has promoted the breeding of the famous Breton draught horse since the 19th century. Geographically, Lamballe is strategically located in the hinterland of the Emerald Coast, making it a key economic hub for agriculture and the food industry. The town is also closely associated with the painter Mathurin Méheut, whose work is celebrated in a museum dedicated to him. Lamballe combines Breton authenticity with modern infrastructure and serves as a convenient starting point for exploring both the rugged coastline and the gentle hills of the Breton countryside.
