Châteaubourg is a flourishing town in eastern Brittany, uniquely positioned as a gateway between the cities of Rennes and Vitré. In recent decades, it has carved out a prestigious reputation as a center for contemporary art, largely thanks to the 'Jardin des Arts' annual festival. This event transforms the private gardens of Ar Milin and the town's public squares into an open-air gallery for monumental sculptures, attracting thousands of art lovers and casual visitors alike. The town's name, meaning 'Castle-Town', originates from an 11th-century fortification built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Vilaine river to defend the Breton borders. Geographically, the river valley provides an easy on the eye backdrop for the urban area, with lush wetlands and wooded slopes. Economically, Châteaubourg is exceptionally dynamic for its size, hosting major manufacturing plants in the agribusiness and industrial sectors. Its excellent rail connection on the main line between Paris and Rennes has fueled its growth as a premium residential destination that combines professional opportunity with an enriched cultural and natural environment.
