Sauble Beach
Sauble Beach is a premier summer destination on the eastern shore of Lake Huron, known as the second-longest freshwater beach in the world. Visitors flock here for the 11-kilometer stretch of soft sand, shallow swimming waters, and family-friendly atmosphere. The main strip features classic beach town amenities, including retro arcades, ice cream parlors, and watersports rentals like paddleboarding and kiteboarding. Beyond the beach, the nearby Sauble Falls Provincial Park provides excellent opportunities for hiking, canoeing, and watching spawning salmon in the autumn. The area is also famous for its spirited summer events and vintage car shows. Getting here is easy via a three-hour drive from Toronto, making it a popular weekend escape. The best time to visit is from June to August for swimming, or September for quieter shoreline walks and changing foliage. Local dining emphasizes casual beachside fare, fresh lake fish, and Canadian classics like poutine.
